Overview of NCAS Courses - Club & Competition

TRA Coaching Council provides training courses for coaches at three levels:

¬ Level

Purpose

Target group

Requirements

CLUB

an introduction to the principles of coaching and provides basic training in the skills required for coaches of beginner shooters

 includes the conducting of training programs for club competitive shooters

beginner coaches

coaching principles
(6 hrs minimum)

sport specific coaching (10 hrs minimum)

coaching practice (30 hrs)

Accreditation at this level will take approximately 3 months to complete, excluding practice components

 

COMPETITION

 involves the knowledge at greater depth, for the coach at a State level. 

includes effective administration, and skills that aim to promote a process of self-improvement.

 Includes the conducting of training programs for club / State competitive shooters

coaches seeking more knowledge at a higher than basic context

coaches seeking to coach at a higher level

coaching principles (30 hrs)

sport specific coaching  (30 hrs)

active Level 1 accreditation for a minimum of 12 months

Accreditation at this level will take approximately 6 months to complete, including practical components

 

ADVANCE

involves the advanced theory and marksmanship, coaching and advanced instructional management specific to a national and international level

experienced coaches working at the elite level

coaches of junior or senior national squads and/or teams

further theory and practice of coaching

practical coaching

coaching research

active Level 2 accreditation for a minimum of 12 months

Accreditation at this level will take approximately 12 months to complete, including practical components

In the longer term, the expected minimum requirements will be as follows:
club coaches requirement is CLUB COACH
state coaches requirement is COMPETITION COACH
  national coaches requirement is ADVANCEDCOACH

CLUB COACH - RIFLE
This is an integrated course comprising both general and specific.
