At an extra-ordinary board meeting held on 19th March 2022 via Web-conference, directors discussed the
request from Shooting Australia to change the 2022 TRA National Championships 50m 3 Position Rife event
from 3 x 40 to 3 x 20 to ensure consistency with the current ISSF 50m 3 Position Rifle Event.
The request was made as the event is also the final Tier 1 Selection Event for members seeking selection in the
Australian Team to contest the 2022 ISSF World Championships and the change would ensure consistency
across all selection events.
The decision by the Board of TRA Ltd on 19/03/22 was unanimous:
• That the 2022 TRA National Championships 50m 3 Position Rife event be split into two 3×20 matches
• Event start times will be allocated by the Technical Director and organising committee
• Both matches will have sighters
• Finals will follow Match 2 and will use the same format as used at the Tokyo Olympic Games.
Match 1 will allow for those shooting 3×40 while Match 2 will be for those shooting the 3×20
Note: The TRA 3 Position Championship will be decided by the addition of both 3×20 Matches (i.e., Match 1
and Match 2).
This will allow for those who wish to shoot 3×40 to do so whilst providing the opportunity for the group
trialling for selection in the Australian Team to contest the 2022 ISSF World Championships.
